Generally, a diesel generator’s start-up capacity is only rating capacity’s 20-30%. In other words, a diesel generator with 100KW, whose start-up capacity is about 20-30KW. That is because diesel generator’s accerograph can’t reach to the correct place when generator is starting up, so diesel generator’s spinning speed will decrease, even diesel generator will power off. Generator starting up current is rating current’s 6-10 times. Under such a large current pounding, generator’s voltage will decrease, of course at the same time, generator’s excitation protection will immediately react and increasing excitation current. In this process, when engine is starting, generator will come up the phenomenon that voltage will be lower. We can conclude that the larger the generator, starting up current is larger, voltage will be lower.
When 55kw engine start up on the 100kw generator, Voltage will decrease a lot.
